This interview is with Stuart Meyers, Professor Emeritus of Veterinary Medicine. He was appointed in 1999 and retired in 2024.
Stuart’s research focused on male fertility and aging, particularly in the horse but also in dogs, non-human primates, endangered species, fish, and coral. He has studied the effects on fertility, semen quality, and cryopreservation from spermatozoal reactive oxygen species and sperm mitochondrial function by studying mechanisms of oxidative stress and embryo development. Stuart played an important role in developing the reproduction curriculum and received the UC Davis Distinguished Teaching Award.
He is interviewed by his friend and colleague, Mary Delany, Professor Emerita of Animal Science.
